Movies Coming Out In August 2015: 14 Theatrical Release Dates And Trailers

The hits just keep coming in the summer of 2015. With a bevy of incredible movies behind us, it’s time to look ahead to what’s going to get people out of their air-conditioned homes and off to the theater.

Thanks to hits like “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Ant-Man, ” the public is primed and ready for some good action movies - and the month of August won’t disappoint. Titles like “The Fantastic Four” and “Hitman: Agent 47” are vying for audience attention in their first month out of the gate. Meanwhile, as we slowly begin to enter the fall season, August will see some pretty spooky thrillers drop just in time for a possible on-demand release when Halloween rolls around. Scare fans can get excited for the release of movies like “The Gift” and “Sinister 2.”

To help make sure you don’t miss a single trip to the movies, below is a list of the 14 movies hitting theaters nationwide this August:

“Shaun The Sheep Movie, ” Aug. 5

When Shaun thinks it’s OK to take just one day off, a series of misunderstandings lead him and his flock to the big city. Once there, it’s up to Shaun to get the flock home safely. This is the second movie based on the popular animated BBC series. The first debuted in 2007.

“The Gift, ” Aug. 7

Jason Bateman steps outside the comedy genre in this intense psychological thriller about a young married man trying to outrun the sins of his past and protect his new life from a terrifying figure.

“Fantastic Four, ” Aug. 7

Marvel’s first family is back on the big screen once again in this refreshing reboot. Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell star as the title heroes as they attempt to crack the mysteries of teleportation. Unfortunately, things go awry, and they are with strange and impossible superpowers. It’s up to them to master these powers and become one of the most iconic comic book teams of all time.

“Ricki and the Flash, ” Aug. 7

What happens when a rock-and-roll star crosses the age threshold and evaluates her life? Apparently she does a victory lap of her hometown in the hopes of making amends with the family and friends she left behind. Meryl Streep stars in this heartfelt comedy about second chances.

“Underdogs, ” Aug. 14

Who doesn’t love a good game of foosball? In this wacky animated adventure, a young man named Amadeo (David Masajnik) discovers that his table-top game’s players have come to life. Together, he’ll challenge one of the greatest soccer players - and biggest jerks - in the world to a grudge match for fame and the girl.
